Obituary of Irene Lillian Clayton

It is with profound sadness that the family of Irene Lillian Clayton, of Rocky View County, announce her passing on Friday, January 6, 2023.
Irene was born on October 20, 1922, to Anna and Ellert Ellertson on the family farm near Sedalia, AB. She was the ninth child of ten and had recently celebrated her 100th birthday with family. Irene was an avid fan of the Calgary Flames, the Hitmen, and the Calgary Stampeders, often providing family members her elevated opinion on the officiating, as well as the Flames travel schedule. In Irene’s opinion everyone had it in for the Flames. She enjoyed listening to music and took pleasure in visits from family.
Irene is survived by her children, Cairon (David) Kirk, Kay (Horst) Wilfert, and Garvin (Lisa) Clayton; grandchildren, Lisa (Jerrad) Sagan, Brian (Rochelle) Wilfert, and Peter (Kim) Kirk; great-grandchildren, Kyle Kirk, Elijah Wilfert, and Sadie Thomson; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her nine siblings, and her husband Clifford S. Clayton.
A private family graveside service will be held at Cop Hill Cemetery, Sedalia, AB. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
