Jared Morgan Fraser passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 12, 2023, in Calgary, Alberta. He was born on July 24, 1982, in Drayton Valley, Alberta.

Jared was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer when he was three years old. He miraculously defied all the odds and expectations, and celebrated his 40th birthday last July, surrounded by family and friends.

Despite his lifelong health challenges, Jared always maintained a positive outlook and believed it was his mission in life to bring people hope. He was a light to everyone he met.

Jared found joy and happiness in the little things like going out for lunch, watching a good action movie, or even savouring a vanilla milkshake. He loved music and always knew all the words, artists, and song titles. We could always count on him to sing along, whether it was lead vocals, back-up, in the car or karaoke.

More than anything, Jared loved his family.

Jared leaves behind his loving parents, Irene Wolsey and Dallas Fraser, and his siblings along with their spouses, Shawn and Blanca Fraser, Cheryl and Bob Condron, James and Angela Fraser, Sarah Gullacher, and Christa Fraser and Jesse Momm. Jared was also a proud and dedicated uncle to Kailyn, Lukas, Liam, Kylie, Zoe, Jackson, Molly, Thor, Brix, Tirza, Titus and Mila.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Dean Wolsey, Dorothy (Russell) Wolsey, James Fraser, and Orpha (Roth) Fraser.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers and staff who have worked with and supported Jared, especially the staff at Universal Rehabilitation Service Agency (URSA). Jared was part of the URSA Members Council, which is a group of individuals across URSA who help advocate for changes within the organization and for additional services. He attended activities with other individuals at URSA through their Brain Injury Program. Everyone knew Jared and he built wonderful friendships there.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (30 Everstone Blvd SW, Calgary) on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Fraser’s service streamed live at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpvWy0uwebU-- on the day of the service. If friends so desire, In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to URSA, 808 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 7N8, in honour of Jared and the positive impact he made there, so they can continue their essential work of helping those with developmental disabilities thrive within the community.
