Obituary of Edith Charles

Edith Charles, born May 18, 1920, passed away in Calgary, AB, on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at the age of 102 years.
Edith was the last of her generation. She was predeceased by her husband, two sisters, and one brother. She was a tomboy growing up, playing baseball with her brother, and learning to golf, which she became very accomplished at. Her love of sports continued all her life. Edith was the youngest of four children and grew up in Calgary. It was there she met her husband Bill Charles, while working for Pacific Western Oil and Gas (Getty Oil). Edith and Bill loved Shuswap Lake where they spent most of their summers ‘till they were unable to make the journey. Edith was a true renaissance woman, she seemed able to do anything she put her mind to, except for the computer.
Edith will be dearly missed by her daughter Cheryl (Don), son Tom, and grandsons, Kyle, and Ben; all of Calgary.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.
