It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend Clint Kootenay on Monday January 23, 2023, at the age of 47 years.

Wîcha as a young man in his earlier days, participated in rodeo and dedicated that time in life as a bareback rider for numerous years. He also loved the sport and played hockey for many years, and he was a very talented artist. His athleticism led him to become a breakdancer in his younger teen days in the 80s. He was a very giving humble man. He always graced everybody with a handshake with an infectious smile. Wîcha loved working outdoors and was taught various skills by his late uncle Terry Francis. He loved fencing and construction work whenever he had the opportunity. He grew up by the side of his grandpa Jensen Francis. He loved learning his songs, drumming and listening to the stories from his grandpa, learning his ways and traditional beliefs. He attended Morley Community School until he entered an apprenticeship program to gain education in carpentry.

Wîcha was survived by his beloved children, Conroy Poucette, Rainy Snow and Cecilia Snow, four grandchildren, his sister Charmine Onespot, Arcilla, Shanda (Chris) Pigrem, brothers Nicholas (Jessica) and Anders, his uncle Benny (Myrna) Francis and Rod (Emily) Hunter, and aunties, Kathleen Poucette and Clarice Kootenay. He is survived by his extended family on both paternal and maternal side, Kootenay, Crawler, Francis, Twoyoungmen, Bigstony, Amos, Holloway, Simeon, Roans and Poucette. We apologize for any members that we have not mentioned. Family would like to thank Travis Kootenay for the years he supported Wagâyâ (Wîcha).

Wîcha was predeceased by his mom Cecilia Kootenay, his father Charles Francis, brother Roly Joel Kootenay grandparents Jensen (Winnie) Francis, Mary (Joseph) Kootenay and uncle Terry Francis.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Arcilla Francis (Morley, AB) on Friday, January 27, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at Berarspaw Youth Centre (Morley, AB) on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Wesley Cemetery (Morley, AB).  Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Clint Kootenay, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Cochrane.
