Obituary of Roch Andre Desjardins

September 18, 1956 – Montreal, Quebec

February 3, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

 

On Friday, February 3, 2023, Rocky passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer at the age of 66.

 

Rocky is survived by his loving wife Gail, his son Kirk (Jaycee), and his daughter Kirstie (Derek) Ruzycki. He was born in Montreal, QC on September 18, 1956, and moved to Calgary, AB in 1976. He met his wife Gail in 1983 and they married in 1991. He accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his children and their achievements. He enjoyed spending his summers at Mara Lake, BC with his family and friends. Rocky had a lifelong passion for being active and enjoyed running, biking, hiking, walking, and weightlifting. He had a deep love for animals including his many dogs.

 

Rocky will be most remembered for his work ethic, generosity, kindness, and his willingness to help others. His infectious laugh made others smile as he would say, “That’s just not normal.”

 

A Celebration of Rocky’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
