TERAKITA, Tamiko (Tami)

June 14, 1931 – Hammond British Columbia

February 5, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Tamiko Terakita (nee Kunimoto), beloved wife of the late Kazuyuki Terakita, passed away peacefully, and surrounded by family on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the age of 91 years.

Tami was born June 14, 1931, in Hammond, BC, the daughter of Masaichi Kunimoto and Kame Higashi. She grew up in a family with three brothers.

Tami’s family and home life was of great importance to her. She was the mother figure to many, and her love and guidance, supported their growing up years. Tami enjoyed golfing and hosting many family celebrations. There was much laughter and good times spent at the Casino with family, and her dearest friend Rosie.

Tami’s memory will be forever cherished by her daughter Linda and son-in-law Jeff Heartz, and beloved grandson, Michael of Calgary, AB. She is survived by her brothers, Yosh (Kathy) and Nobie Kunimoto, of Calgary AB, and numerous nieces and nephews. Tami was predeceased by her husband Kaz Terakita, her parents, older brother Steve (Connie) Kunimoto, and sister-in-law Bernice (Bunny) Kunimoto.

At Tami’s request no Funeral Service will be held. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.

The family gratefully acknowledges the staff of the Community Paramedics Program and Palliative Team and Southwood Hospice for their care and support.

In living memory of Tamiko Terakita, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
