Obituary of Dorothy Mae Smith

September 13, 1923 – Edmonton, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dorothy “Dot” Smith on Monday, February 6, 2023, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 99 years.

Dorothy enjoyed dancing and was a past member of the Banff Trailer square dance club.

Dorothy is survived by her sister Barbara Pearce, daughters, Lynn (Aaron) Zelmer, and Wendy (Rick) Dyck; son Rick (Jane) Smith, six grandchildren, Suzanne (Larry) Zelmer (Hurd), Cindy (Jason) Hunt, Rick (Sherry) Dyck, Sherry (Brent) Phillips, Michael (Shona) Smith, and Nicole (Dan) Smith (Sifert); and eight great-grandchildren, Kenton, Madeleine, James, Kaelyn, Karly, Tesla, Lily, Evan, Mikayla, and Arie. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Harold “Hal” Smith in 2004, parents, Thomas and Jesse; brother Art, and sisters, Lilian, Margaret, and Gladys. 

The family will hold a private graveside at Union Cemetery. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
