Obituary of Bergedda Susanna Wandler

September 15, 1927 – Harbour Breton, Newfoundland

February 11, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Bergedda Wandler (nee Jensen), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the age of 95 years.

Bergedda was born in Harbour Breton, NL on September 15, 1927. She emigrated to Nova Scotia just prior to the Confederation in 1949. In her 60 plus years of marriage to John, his military career moved them from coast to coast while raising four children. In her later years, she was proud to be involved in raising her grandson Nik.

She worked in many administrative roles and was most proud of working for the RCMP in Ottawa.  She loved animals, dogs, cats and in her later years, fed the birds (and squirrels) in her backyard. The most important thing to her was her family she placed emphasis on all her children’s achievements and was proud that they all attained post-secondary educations. She lived her life treating people with kindness and respect and firmly stood her ground when needed. She instilled these qualities in all of her children and grandchildren, and she will be greatly missed by all of them.

Bergedda is survived by her children, Dwight (Jocelyne) Wandler, Derek (Rhonda) Wandler, Darwin Wandler and Denise Wandler (Mel Nadeau); grandchildren, Susan (Chris) Music, Marc Wandler, Ed (Pam) Wandler, Nik Wandler (Kamala Lyons), Matt Pacentrilli (Tracy Hunt) and Joe Pacentrilli (Faith Cassidy); and her great-grandchildren, Corban, Asher, Daisy, Charlotte, Bristol and Margot. Bergedda was predeceased by her husband of over 60 years, John Wandler in 2017.
