Obituary of Thea Sophie NISSEN

Thea, beloved wife of the late Villy Nissen of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 at the age of 89 years. Thea was born in Wilhelmshaven, Germany in 1929. She met her future husband Villy after the war and they married in 1950; a marriage that lasted sixty-five years. They immigrated to Canada in 1957; and founded Chinook Glass and Screen in 1966. Always known for her hard work and stubborn strength, she was the glue that kept her active family and business together. Chinook Glass and Screen has now been in the family for three generations. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and spent many weekends supporting them in their athletic and professional careers. She is survived by her son Kurt and daughter-in-law Arlene; her grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Thea's family and friends have been saddened by her departure. She will be greatly missed. At her request there will be no funeral service. If friends so desire, a memorial tribute may be made to a charity of their choice.
