Obituary of Marilyn Janice RASMUSSEN

RASMUSSEN - Marilyn Janice May 14, 1935 - Sussex, New Brunswick November 9, 2014 - Calgary, Alberta It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Rasmussen after her short battle with cancer. Born in Sussex, New Brunswick, Marilyn was the second daughter of Ruth and George MacDougall. Her loving nature and inherent spirit of service led her to a career in nursing and she completed her nurse's training in 1956 at the Saint John General Hospital. She followed her elder sister to Calgary in 1959 where she met and married her first husband, Kenneth Glambeck, the same year. The couple were blessed with three children and made a life together in the community of Varsity Acres for many years. Kenneth preceded Marilyn in death in 1983. Marilyn was lucky enough to meet a second love, Gordon Rasmussen, who she married in 1993. Marilyn joined Gordon in his hometown of Standard, Alta. where the two spent their spare time traveling to a host of exotic locations, exploring new cultures, and enjoying each other's company until Gordon's passing in 2009. In addition to her husbands, Marilyn was predeceased by her grandchildren, Geoffrey Casey and Jessi Gregory. She will be lovingly remembered by her three children Catherine (John) Casey, Diane (Bruce) Lauzon, and Douglas Glambeck; her five stepchildren James (Eva) Rasmussen, Bradley Rasmussen, Amy Johnston, Brian (Shelley) Rasmussen and Lynn (Robert) Gregory; her sister Margaret Marnie' Pullin; and her many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marilyn truly lived life to the fullest with the most positive of outlooks. She taught us all that love' is a verb. A service for friends and family will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church (1432 19 St. N.E.) on Friday, November 14th at 11:00 a.m. The internment will follow at Standard Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through HFFS.com.
