Obituary of Kathleen Marie MACKENZIE
Kathleen Mackenzie of Calgary passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the age of 93 years. Born on the family farm on February 2, 1920 in Essex, Ontario, Kathleen was proud of her heritage of being a farm girl. Kathleen loved to learn and in 1964 she entered teacher's college in Ontario where she taught for 10 years. In 1989 Kathleen moved to Calgary to be nearer to her family. She missed her teaching career and later began tutoring students in many facets, such as reading, writing and English as a second language. Kathleen truly loved helping people and was most proud of her students' accomplishments and the many gifts of appreciation they gave her, especially those which said "World's Greatest Teacher". Kathleen also enjoyed travelling and was blessed to have visited Scotland where she could learn of her families' heritage. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her many friends and students. Kathleen is survived by her daughters Kay Marie and her husband Nigel of Italy; Julie Ellen of Ontario; and Heather Dee of Calgary; granddaughter Luminea Neufeld and her husband Ron; and grandson, Daniel Chilton also of Calgary. She was predeceased by her first husband, Richard McLean, and second husband, John Mackenzie. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Chilton home at 1343 Northcote Road NW, on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Flowers are respectfully declined. Please forward condolences through www.hffs.com.
