Obituary of Derek Kenneth SHEPPARD

Derek Kenneth Sheppard of Calgary, passed away peacefully at Southwood Hospice on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the age of 42 years. Born October 27th, 1970 in North York, Ontario, he lived in Toronto and Calgary. Derek had a keen interest in hockey, bowling, wrestling and poker. Although many would comment Derek was never any good at poker because he had a smile that would always give him away. He will be remembered for his crazy big laugh but mostly for his kind heart and ability to keep family and friends connected. Derek is survived by his parents Margaret and Ken Sheppard; sister Dawn Bateman (Craig) and niece and nephew Madelynn and Nolan Bateman. Special thanks to the staff at Southwood Hospice, Dr. Daly and the nursing staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and especially to Derek's supportive roommate and friend, Barb Tompson.
