Obituary of Jon Norman Patrick SKELLY
Jon Skelly, beloved husband of Cheryl Skelly of Crossfield, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the age of 67 years. After a battle fought with extreme courage and strength, Jon Norman Patrick (Paddy) Skelly passed away at the Santuari Hospice at the Peter Lougheed Centre, surrounded by his family. Jon is survived by his loving wife Cheryl, son Jay (Jaimi), sister Sherill Pepe (Vince), nephew John Pepe (Tanis), niece Laurel Wittwer (Brian), great nephew Sean Pepe, great nieces: Rio Wittwer, Sophia and Serephina Pepe, and many cousins and wonderful friends and his faithful little dog Jack. Jon travelled the world while in the Royal Canadian Navy, and his career was in the Insurance Industry working for the City of Calgary Law Department, Claims Division, and later moving to the Fleet Services Division with the City of Calgary. Jon retired from the City after 35 years in 2011. Respecting Jon's wishes, there will be no funeral service and he asked that everyone remember him with a funny story and a smile. Jon had a deep love for his family, a kind, soft heart, infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and an incredible sense of humour. Jon loved life, hockey, books, history, the sea, animals, music and playing his guitar. This world has lost a beautiful bright light. We thank all of the health care professionals for their assistance during his illness, with special thanks to the Crossfield Volunteer Fire Department, Dr. Robert Collingridge and Ria Hillis at the Crossfield Medical Clinic, and in his final weeks the amazing caregivers at the Santuari Hospice. Jon's wish, in lieu of flowers, was for donations to the Tails to Tell Animal Shelter in Crossfield or any other Charity of your choice.
