Obituary of Ronald Leonard SAMUELSON

Ronald Samuelson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, after a brief illness at the age of 79 years with his loving family by his side. Ronald was born and raised in Calgary within a home that was rich with music. He worked as an oil and gas draftsman for several companies, taking early retirement in 1992 from Imperial Oil (Esso) where he was employed as head draftsman. Ronald was a long-time member of the Calgary Handball Club and played at the old downtown YMCA for many years. He loved to travel, which took him around the world. His favorite places to travel were Hawaii and Las Vegas where he always found the best Jazz clubs to immerse himself in his favorite music. Ronald was a football player in High School and a Calgary Stampeder season ticket holder for 58 years; buying tickets when the team was still playing at Mewata Stadium. He was rarely seen without his team colours and logo on. Ronald made numerous trips to Grey Cup festivities and made many friends along the way. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Marlene; son James (Jim); daughter-in-law Stanis and their four children Nathaniel, Avery, Ena, Aaron; Brother Kenneth C; sister-in-law M.J.; nephew Donald Samuelson; niece Lyndsay Samuelson; brother-in-law George C. James and many cousins from Alberta, B.C., Ontario and Seattle, Washington He was predeceased by his parents V. Leonard and Ruth Samuelson (nee Matthews) long time residents of the Rosedale Community in Northwest Calgary as well as his cousin Doris Herringshaw. A Musical Celebration of Ronald's Life will be held at the Tuscany Club, 212 Tuscany Way NW on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Please forward condolences through www.hffs.com.
