Condolences
So sad to find out about her passing. Miss Kluter and Mrs. Ghent as I knew her was my 4th and 5th grade teacher at Cragmont Elementary School in Berkeley, California. She was one of those who made a lasting impression on me through the rest of my life. She kept us calm as the Berlin Wall was suddenly built and many other events took place. Gretchen, now that I old enough to use her first name, is part of some kind of synchronicity in that I met her in my hometown of Berkeley and now I live within a few miles of her hometown, Solon, Ohio. I have thought of her often over the years wondering what things she moved onto in her life. Couldn't find out because for some reason I thought that her first name was Rosemary and any searches came up empty. With the 2024 Olympics I was looking at swimmers over the years and finally got her first name right and now I am pretty much caught up. Happily so. What a nice life she experienced. The picture of Gretchen here is exactly how I remember her.
My best wishes to your family.

My condolences to you Ed for the loss of Gretchen. I remember when you both visited my Calgary home upon the request of my daughter when she was only 7. She looked you up in the phone book and said you must come for coffee. She wanted to know if she was related to your family. My daughter is now 27 and finishing Law at U of C. She remembers you both very fondly. Thank you for caring Ed and my thoughts are with you and your family at this time of remembering Gretchen. Kindest regards, Pattie, Lauren(27)& Jeremy(25) Ghent
