Obituary of Helen Lena HICKS

Helen Lena Hicks of Calgary, beloved wife of the late Mr. Raymond Hicks, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, September 26, 2011 at the age of 96 years. Helen leaves to cherish her memory three children, daughter Anastasia, son Hector and son David (Carol); eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Besides her husband Raymond, Helen was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. Helen was born in Saskatoon where she was raised and completed her formal education there before moving to Winnipeg to begin her adult life. Helen and Raymond raised their family in various cities across western Canada, finally settling and retiring in Calgary. Helen at one time owned and operated her own hair salon called "The Pink Lady" in Medicine Hat. She enjoyed reading and loved to do her gardening, especially the planting of flowers. She also enjoyed meeting with family and friends on special occasions. Helen can now rest peacefully as she has now gone on to be with the love of her life, Raymond, for all of eternity. The family will miss the good times that were spent with both of them. Funeral Services were held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 - 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen's Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.hffs.com.
