Obituary of Clara Jean SANKEY

Clara Jean Sankey of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully at the age of 84 years on July 8, 2011. Clara was born in Hanna, AB on February 5, 1927 to Clarence and Ella Dafoe. She spent her early years growing up on her parents farm where she developed a life long love of horses. Clara married William Sankey in 1948 and returned to Hemaruka, where she farmed with her husband until 1976. She divided her time between Arizona and Calgary for several years until Calgary became her permanent home. Clara is survived by her special friend Joe Biro of Calgary; her children, Cheryl DeGruchy, Darryl (Dixie) Sankey, Lenore (Gord) Pattison; grandchildren, Jodie (Kurt) Lindemann, Charlie DeGruchy, Dawn (Dave) Wagg, Gerad Pattison and Justin Pattison; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Nellie Glass of Prince George, B.C., Amy Hewitt of Red Deer, Rosemary (Eddy) Leake of Quesnel, B.C. and Eunice (Robert) Anderson of Red Deer. A Celebration of Claras Life will be held at 3000 Legacy Estates, Millrise Point S. W. on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. A Graveside interment for family and friends was held in Veteran, AB at the Veteran Cemetery on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a light lunch in the Veteran Hall.
