Condolences
Dear Jane and Family, Bob and I received the sad news of David's death from Marc Tieger, the realtor who lives just up the street from the Humiston house, who heard it from a friend. He included David's obituary with his note. David lived a rich, full life and left behind a body of work on which future archeologists will depend. He was a great guy. His Aunt Ruth had many fond memories of him. We enjoyed our stay with you in Calgary so long ago. We had met Michael, David and Becky and were glad for the opportunity to meet the rest of the family. The Humiston house is now an apartment house. There are stairs at the back to the second floor. There is a home decoration business in the dining room and sitting room. We have not had an opportunity to see the rest of the house. If any of you ever come our way, please stay with us. You have our email address now. With fond regards, Mary (Sandi) and Bob Chamberlain
WISH I COULD OF VISITED WITH HIM THESE PAST FEW YEARS, HE WILL SURELY BE MISS.

My sincere sympathies to Jane and to the Kelley Family. Dave was a great man, he possessed a truly great mind and was a genuine gentleman. I am honoured to have known Dave know he will be missed.
My sincere condolences. David was a role model and an inspiration. I delighted in his vivid and expressive personality.
Dave Kelley was my mentor when I was an undergraduate anthropology major at Texas Tech in the early 1960s. He turned me on to anthropology and archaeology. Later, 1968-1974, he mentored me again through the Ph.D. program in Archaeology at the University of Calgary. I offer to him a great tribute and to his family, my friends of decades, my warm regards.
Jane: I was deeply saddened to learn of David's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. Tom.
I will always remember David as a wonderful, kind and giving person. He was a brilliant man who loved to converse about his passions to other scholars or any lay person who was interested. I have had the privilege of sharing many family dinners and holiday celebrations with David, Jane, Becky, Dennis, Megan, Heather, Chis and Tom. What wonderful times we had. My heart goes out to all of you. Davids memories will live on in all of the people whose lives he touched. love Rhonda
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of David. He used my book restoration and repair service intermitantly over the past twenty or so years. I appreciated his respectful approach to my work and always enjoyed our conversations Colin
Please accept my sincere sympathy for Dr. Kelley's passing. He was an accomplished scholar and a great teacher. He positively influenced so many of us, not so much with his incredibly deep and broad knowledge, as with his enjoyment of and encouragement for the search for knowledge. I was privileged to be one of his students in 1979-1980, first in archeoastronomy and then in Mesoamerican archeology "101". He taught me what I call "observer mode". What I still appreciate most is that he not only allowed me to think outside the box, he taught me new ways to do it and to bring the results to life.
David was a dear generous soul to everyone who has the privilege to know him. My deepest condolence. John Chan
Jane - I'm so sorry for your loss. Dave had been much on my mind in the last month or so and I regret not sending an e-mail. In all my years since my time in Calgary noone has been the mentor and role model that he was. I hope I can touch a small fraction of the lives that he touched. Susan
David Kelley was a remarkable man. I know he will be deeply missed by everyone who was part of his life. I am holding all of you, especially my dear friend Dennis, in my thoughts. Chris
