Obituary of Dhirajlal Shankerlal ACHARYA

Dhirubhai was born on October 27, 1914 in Limbdi, India to Shankerlal and Maniben Acharya. He married Kanchan Raval (1921 -1989) and raised his family in Nairobi, Kenya. With his intense discipline and will to succeed, his independent business ventures thrived. He was highly respected and was a great philanthropist. He was passionate about Bridge. He successfully captained the Kenyan National Bridge Team and competed internationally. Together, Kanchan and Dhirubhai raised 5 children (Sumant (1940-1985), Kirit, Jyoti, Divya and Pankaj). His final years were filled with family and love. He read, watched cricket and prayed daily. He was always quick to joke and play with his great grandchildren. He left us peacefully, on his own terms, February 5, 2011. He is survived by 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
