Obituary of Mohammed Nadhir Dean

After contributing 82.9 years to the world, MOHAMMED NADHIR (NED) passed away from cancer on March 16, 2020. Born in Sri Lanka, Nadhir (Ned) Dean left for England his twenties to be with his love, Elaine Dean. Together, Ned and Elaine lived in several countries, including Holland and Canada. They raised their family and welcomed people from all walks of life into their home. Ned Dean has been celebrated as a loving, thoughtful husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend and mentor. He was committed to the ideals of compassion and human dignity. Ned was the husband of Elaine (nee Mason), father of Yasmin and Jerome, father-in-law of Jenny, grandfather of Jessie, Jordan and Jamie, brother of Naima Sidique and Fauzil Sahideen. He was predeceased by his sister, Sithie Tiruchelvam and his brother, Zarouk Dean. Funeral services were held at the Akram Jomaa Islamic Centre, Calgary on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service followed at the Muslim Cemetery of Calgary, 260040 Mountain Ridge Pl, Cochrane. Memorial services for Ned will be held at a later date in Calgary and Colombo. Ned went "to his next station", knowing he was loved by many. We all felt his love back. His wisdom, gentleness, and deep thoughts continue to influence others. While he was a hardworking man who worked well with colleagues across the world, it will be Ned's commitment to humanity that shall be remembered. He helped us all to be better.
