Condolences
Louanne, I am sorry to have taken so long to send this note. In spite of Gord's many health issues, it is hard to believe he is gone. I am sure in his latter days, his quality of life was severely diminished. I always think of my years age 16 to 22 as some of the happiest of my life. Gord was the central character in my life, and best friend, during much of that period. We got our drivers licenses around the same time, and our mutual interest in anything cars, and where they could take us, kept us close during those years. Gord was more the risk-taker...always upbeat, and always on a new adventure. He added a lot of meaning to my life during that time. I feel badly we lost contact over the years. One of my many shortcomings, is not maintaining contact with people who matter. The visit Ginny and I had with you and Gord at Sylvan Lake a few years ago was special. Gord was struggling with his health issues, but handled it all with his usual humour and grace. I know your support contributed immeasurably during your years together, and would have eased his adjustment to his declining health. I am glad to hear you are living near your daughters, Louanne, and am sure they will help adjust to life now on your own. Let us know if you come to Victoria and we will get together. Take care. We first met in Calgary in 1960 and Gord was the main car guy in our small group of friends which expanded to a further group in Edmonton. We had many a good time together and one of my memorable trips was in '64 with him in his 57 pulling his dragster. I lost contact in 65 when I transferred to the Bahamas but connected again in 68 when I drove to Edmonton and had a fun day with him and his rail, testing it out at the strip. He wanted me to drive it so he could see it from behind, I took a pass. Over the years since we lost contact as I transferred East and to New York and Ontario and subsequently to Sidney. Many fond memories of those days past. RIP Gord
Gord was a great guy and we had many good times together...mostly car stuff, of course. Road trips to drag races. Many good memories. The world misses good people like him.
Dear Louanne... We are so sorry to hear of Gord's passing. We will always remember his smile, laughter and the fun times we had in our younger years. Our deepest condolences to you and your family.
Our deepest sympathies on Gordon's passing. He will be sincerely missed. He was always a pleasure to be around, had great stories, fun to golf with and a blast at the racetrack. We'll keep him and all of you in our prayers!
Lost track of Gordon many years ago. So sorry to learn of his passing, great guy!! Picture this, a memory I have of Gord one very hot Sunday at Shepard in Calgary, mid 60"s. "Chief Starter", large sun hat, no shirt, long pants and flip flops, Gord was always good color! That was where it all started. RIP Gordon, you had a great ride!
We;re both sorry to hear about Gordon's passing one of our fondest memories we have is Gordon walking past the condo window and stopping and sniffing to see what Doris is cooking. We'll miss you Rest In Peace.
We will miss him. As the obituary mentioned ---- Gord sought out and found enjoyment in life in wherever his passion found him. I remember one time he took me and my dad out for Chinese food ---- As we finished our meals before the cheque arrived Gord proceeded to stand up and he said "Well, time to dine-and-dash' and then briskly walked to the exit leaving us sitting at the table wondering what the hell just happened. He came back of course --- but he was just a fun guy to be around.
Dear Louanne, Sherilyn and Corianne, Your wonderful tribute to Gordon honored his full life, well lived. What a great guy....friend to and fondly remembered and loved by so many. We shared many fun times and experiences over the years...memories in the making. Our love and thoughts are with you all.
