Obituary of Brenda Mulyk

Brenda Mulyk of Calgary, AB, passed away on March 6, 2021 at the age of 69 years. Brenda was born in Drumheller, Alberta Canada on December 11, 1951. She moved to Edmonton, Alberta as a baby, entering the Pisesky family. Brenda graduated from St. Joseph High School where she was a cheerleader and met Edward Mulyk, the father of her children. In the late 90s she moved to Calgary, Alberta where her sister and family were already living. Brenda made many friends in everything she was involved in. She tried new things such as being a blackjack dealer at the Stampede for quite a few years, she played volleyball at the gym and taught Excel and communication courses. She was a member of ToastMasters for many years in Edmonton. Later after recovering from her first round of cancer, she drove a school bus and became a dog walker. Brenda would say this was her favorite job because of all the friends she made and the special dogs she got to spend time with. She had a talent for training dogs and knew all their names. Her best dog friend of 14 years, was Mikey the labadoddle. Brenda’s latest hobby was crochet and she made beautiful blankets for everyone. Brenda spent her final weeks teaching her sister how to crochet and it was such a joy for both of them. Brenda’s most memorable vacation was when she went to Europe with her friend Terry and Russ. Before that, she just loved taking the kids camping and having her mom along for the trip. She will be most remembered for her ability to stay positive and light in the face of adversity. She taught us that no matter what is taken away from our lives there is always room for gratitude and new things to enjoy. And for pete’s sake – SMILE :) Brenda is survived by her two daughters and one son-in-law, Jacqulynn Mulyk, Chelsie and Chad Deschamps, plus grandchildren, Kane Oliver and Hayden Jake Deschamps. Brenda is also survived by her sister, Marion Perry and her husband Dave, plus nieces, nephews and their spouses – Jackson (Kim), Tyler (Jen), Stafford (Meredith), Audrey (Julian), Hillary (Kris), Joe (Andrea). As well, numerous grand nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Donations can be made in her honor to the Agape Hospice, where they took such good care of her in her final weeks. Thank you.
