Bonifacy PULWICKI

Obituary of Bonifacy PULWICKI

Bonifacy (Boniek) Pulwicki passed away on Thursday, August 19th, 2021, at home. He was 74 years old. Bonifacy was born on August 6th, 1947, in Poznań, Poland to his parents Jan and Valeria. He grew up in Poznań, attended a technical school for woodworking, and later became a computer programmer. Bonifacy decided to leave Poland in 1979 with Malgorzata, whom he later married, and moved to England for three years. In 1983 Bonifacy and Malgorzata reached their new home in Calgary, Alberta. In pursuit of outdoor adventures, Bonifacy quickly purchased a bicycle and skis to take advantage of the surrounding mountains and natural areas. Bonifacy and Malgorzata loved to go on road trips across North America in one of their many camper vans. During the weekends they often took the family cross-country and downhill skiing. In 1995, Bonifacy took on one of his largest projects – renovating and adding a second story to the Pulwicki household to accommodate a growing family. Over the years, the house has welcomed numerous gatherings and celebrations, including an annual Kolędy that always involves laughter, music, and huge amounts of food. During his retirement, Bonifacy volunteered his time visiting the lonely in care homes, fundraising for Radio Maria, and being an active member at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. His continual thirst for knowledge resulted in a significant book collection, and a return to post-secondary education. Bonifacy is survived by his five children: Adam, Maciej, Julia, Alexandra, and Robert, granddaughter Ida, and brother Mieczysław. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret. The prayer service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home (1708 16 Ave NW, Calgary AB) on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 6 pm. A visitation before the service will begin at 5:30 pm. The funeral mass will be at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church (2111 Uxbridge Dr. NW, Calgary AB) on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at 11 am, followed by a graveside service at Queen’s Park Cemetery. The reception will be at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the mass will be available online at the following link http://queenpol.org/on-live.
