Obituary of Helen Barbara DUHOLKE

Helen Duholke, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at the age of 91 years. Helen was born in Grimshaw, Alberta on January 28, 1930. She moved to Edmonton where she met Don. They married in 1950, late making Calgary home. Together they built a successful insurance business, Duholke Agencies while raising three daughters. Helen was an active member in Foothills Lutheran church where she sang in the choir and organized the Silver Saints group. She loved music, particularly classical and opera. She spent many hours listening to her favorite songs. Helen and Don traveled to many locations in the world including Europe, Australia, and Japan. However, she was always happy to return home to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her greatest passion was family and for many years she hosted Sunday dinners. Even while in hospice, she welcomed visits from the little ones. She loved her home, where she spent many hours gardening, knitting, reading and making gourmet meals. Helen is survived by her three daughters, Judy (Terry), Debbie (Greg) and Pam (Scott), and five grandchildren. She was also blessed to have four great-grandchildren. Helen is also survived by two brothers, one brother-in-law, three sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Helen was predeceased by her husband Don, her parents, three siblings and one grandson. She lived a beautiful long life, full of love and joy in her faith. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
