Courage and strength define a mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose first love is for our Creator and family. With great sadness, we announce the passing of Evelyn Francis on February 14, 2023, at the age of 84 years.

 

Evelyn will be remembered for celebrating a lifelong legacy of love for her children and family. A kind-hearted, generous woman of faith, she was known for her sense of humor and encouragement of her loved ones. Her talent for beadwork was her favorite pastime. The most important aspect of Evelyn was that she taught her family to believe in our Creator by showing respect and love for people. She was a devoted mother and raised her nieces, nephews, and cousins, as her own.

 

She is survived by her children, Derrick, Marion (Trent), James (Hott (Raylene), Craig (Denise), Shane, Jackie (Delbert), Elaine (Trent), Andrea (John), and Adrian (Jen); nephews and nieces, Delbert, Roberta, Tracey, Francine, Vivian, Stella, Kevin, Doreen, George, Karen, Lucy, Brian, Marvin, Winston, Judy, Elsie, Debbie, Roanna, Donna, Ina, Joyce, and Jaylene; sisters-in-law, Lydia Brass and Marcella (Errol); brothers-in-law, Larry and Raleigh; grandchildren, Lee (Candace), Manny (Tacey), Deedre (Cody) Nikki (Kenton), Bunni, Kai (Chelsey), Ariel (Jaycee), Mikee, Jessica (Kyle), Richard, Shayla, Aliyah, Aliesha, Katrina, and Thomas RJ (Tracey), Alrey (Clint), Rennan, Pretty, Ainsley, and Spencer; great-grandchildren, Joel, Hudson, Judd, Jude, Sunni-Rue, Tatem, Caleigh, Rory, Maizie, Deke, Zarianna, Kayzen, Zaidalyn, Zoey, Diondre, Taylor, Bryce, Kai Jr., Evan, Alex, Lyndon, Amber, Cooper, and Laredo; as well as her adopted children, Trent (Jackie), Dwayne (Dionza), Lori (Sean), Natasha (Dion), Clifton, Yolanda, Robert Big Tobacco, and Robin Big Snake.

 

Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband Gerald Weasel Head, her sons, Keith (Hoss) and Andrew; parents, Richard (Dick) and Emma Brass; brothers, Irvine, Jonathan, Morris, Robert, and Ron Brass; sisters, Violet, Rosemarie, Pauline Brass, and Ruth Majoros; uncles, Felix (Ivy), Moses (Annie) Maguire, and Russell (Julia) Wright Sr.; aunt Millie Raweater, brother-in-law Wally Balint (Majoros), sister-in-law Rita Brass, and cousin Harold Wright.

 

Evelyn will also be missed by extended families, Raweater, Maguire, Big Old Man, Wright, Sitting Eagle, Weaselhead, Stimson, Breaker, Axe, Pretty Youngman, Poor Eagle, Jerry, Cayenne, and Backfat. We apologize for anyone we may have missed.

 

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Gordon Yellowfly (Piiksapi) Memorial Arbor (Siksika Nation, AB) on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

 

Funeral Services will be held at Gordon Yellowfly (Piiksapi) Memorial Arbor (Siksika Nation, AB) on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Paul Little Walker Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB).
