Obituary of John Nelson Bray

February 16, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta


John Bray, beloved husband of Nora Bray (nee Homan), of
Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023,
at the age of 86 years. John died peacefully at
home after many years of coping with Parkinson’s and heart disease.

 

John was a member of Air Cadets and the reserve forces in his younger years. His main career was with a department of the Federal Government, Electricity & Gas division, coming to Calgary as District Manager. John liked to keep busy and had many part-time jobs in retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Order, Toastmasters, and the Legion in his younger years. He was an active member of the Anglican church. He volunteered with Angels Among Us visiting senior’s homes with his dog Dawson and was active in the Holy Nativity Men’s Club and served as a vestry member of the church.

 

John had a passion for all vehicles, including small planes, motorcycles, and classic cars. He also enjoyed taking his motorhome on road trips. John’s most memorable vacation was when he and Nora took a cruise around the world.

 

He will be most remembered for his delight in jokes and puns, travelling and entertaining friends and family.
 

Besides his loving wife, John is survived by his children,Sue (Wayne), Doug (Paula), Tricia (Rich); and grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Eric, Chelsea, and Jacob. John was predeceased by his sister Frances (Fred).
 

Funeral Services will be held at Holy Nativity Anglican Church (12707 Bonaventure Drive S.E., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
