Obituary of Kasandra Chilton

September 5, 1942 - Vermilion, Alberta

February 15, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Kasandra Chilton “Jean Visser” nee Jean Annie Pus of Calgary, AB, made her transition on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the age of 80 years.

Jean’s family immigrated to Canada from the Ukraine/Poland border area during WWII. Jean was born in Canada and raised in Vermillion, AB. She trained as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at the Royal Alexandra hospital in Edmonton. Her first job was at the Lion’s Gate Hospital in Vancouver where she lived with her brother, Steve, and his family.

She then moved to Calgary in about 1969. There she worked at both the General and Foothills hospitals; owned and operated several gift shops at hotels in the city, created and operated a trendy and successful café called “Café Le Chat” in downtown Calgary. Later in her career she earned a certified Financial Planning Certificate and excelled in telephone sales for several agencies in Calgary. She recently told a friend that Café Le Chat was the achievement that she considered the highlight of her life.

For the last twenty-five years of her life, Kasandra passionately studied and practiced her own spiritual nature. To this end she read and wrote voraciously. During these studies, she participated in numerous workshops given by people who would be considered masters in the subject of Spirituality, for example, Debbie Ford of the Ford Institute. She earned a certificate in Integrative Life Coaching and held the intention; until the day she passed, to develop a website and share and teach all she learned with others seeking their own Spiritual path. She will be most remembered by those who are closest to her for her courage, strength and tenacity to achieve this goal.

Kasandra is survived by her brother Steve of Ottawa, sister-in-law Mary of Ottawa and two nephews. She has several close and long-time friends who will sorely miss her friendship, wisdom, humour, and curiosity. She was a bright light in the lives of her friends and family.
