February 17, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

 

Henry Epp, beloved husband of Lois Epp (nee Dyck) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 83 years.

 

Henry is survived by his loving wife Lois, sons Mike (Peterborough) and Len (Victoria), and sisters Irene Redekopp (Winnipeg), Helen Horton (Ted, Edmonton), and Herta Epp (Saskatoon), as well as his many brothers-and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews in his and Lois’ families. Henry was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Helen (nee Lehn).

 

Henry was an environmentalist who spent his career working on environmental management plans, laws, and concerns, including inter-provincial water management, for the Saskatchewan Government. Henry was a member of the Saskatchewan Archaeological Society. He attended and volunteered for Mennonite groups throughout his life; most recently the Alberta Mennonite Historical Society and Trinity Mennonite Church.

 

Henry published and edited a number of books on archaeology, plus over 100 scholarly and professional journal articles. His memoirs that were just completed are most precious to his family.

 

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Memorial Services will be held at Trinity Mennonite Church, 32023 232 Avenue West, DeWinton, AB, on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the church. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
