David Berry

Obituary of David Henry Berry

April 11, 1941 – Montreal, Quebec

February 20, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

David Berry, beloved husband of Beverley Berry (nee Morgan), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023, at the age of 81 years.

David Henry Berry was born April 11, 1941, to Henry and Bernyce Berry. David was raised in Montreal with his younger brother Henry. He was a hard worker and bought his first house prior to marrying Beverley on February 12, 1966.  They started their family in June 1969 when Kevin was born. The opportunities in Alberta began to call David. By July 1972, they set off across Canada to start a new life in Calgary. Later that same year, David accepted a job working for 3M Canada. Shortly afterward, the family increased in size when Lori was born in June 1973. David, Bev, and their kids enjoyed camping and spending time at their Hidden Valley Resort cottage.

David worked at 3M Canada until his retirement in 1999. After retirement, he was busier than when he was working.  He shuttled cars for Northland Pontiac, made the greenest lawn in the neighbourhood, worked on various housing projects with the kids, and watching his grandkids grow. David and Bev spent summers at Carefree Resort and enjoyed wintering in El Centro, California with many good friends. David enjoyed driving through the mountains to see the trees change color, spending summer days at Carefree, or on the Hansen farm, walking and exploring. There was always something new to see; the fields changing color, deer, cows, many birds, prairie flowers, or a kid going by on a motorbike.

In April 2019, David was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and began treatment to successfully control it. Late in 2022, David’s health began to slowly deteriorate before being admitted to the Peter Lougheed Center in late January 2023, where they discovered more cancer. He transferred to the Dulcina Hospice for a short stay before his passing on February 20, 2023.

David is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Bev, his children Kevin (Angela), Lori (Vaughn), and his five grandchildren, Nathan (Jordanne), Melissa (Michael Riches), Wyatt, Jorja, and Austin; his brother Henry (Brenda), nieces and nephews, Neil, Dawn (John), Conway (Tammy), and Shannon; and great nieces and nephews, Shae, Ty, Cole, and Tamba. He is predeceased by his parents Henry and Bernyce Berry; his in-laws Edmund and Hellen Morgan; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Murray and Pat Morgan.
