Norma McNair

Obituary of Norma Delila McNair

March 22, 1938 - Regina, Saskatchewan

February 19, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Norma McNair beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at the age of 84 years.

Norma was born in Regina, SK on March 22, 1938. As a young child, she moved around a lot and attended many schools. One of the saddest days for her was when the family had to move from the farm to the city, and she had to leave all her beloved animals at the farm. She attended Luther College during her high school years.

In 1959, she took a hairdressing course and, when finished, moved to Calgary. Norma cut hair for a few years, and then she took a job at the Calgary Associate Clinic. She met Bud in June of 1965 on a blind date. They were engaged three months later, and, on March 12, 1966, they were married. In July of 1968, they moved into their house, where they lived for over 50 years. Darren was born in July of 1968 and Kim was born in October of 1971.

Norma had many hobbies, but she had a real love of gardening. She took great pride in her yard, and nothing felt better than getting her hands in the soil. Other hobbies she loved were photography, woodworking, painting, crocheting, and quilting. Norma will be most remembered for her love of life and determination, which we saw right up until the end. She was a real fighter and didn’t let much bring her down.

Besides her loving husband, Norma is survived by her son, Darren (Danielle) of Longmont, Colorado and daughter, Kim Bercsenyi (John) of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Riley McNair, Vancouver, BC, Devin McNair, Kimberley, BC, Jaidyn Bercsenyi, Calgary, AB and Nate Bercsenyi, Calgary, AB. Norma is also survived by her two sisters, Donelda Richter of Red Deer, AB and Ida Van Horn of Burnaby, BC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Norma was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Olga Patzwald, brother, Julius Patzwald and sister, Elma Patzwald.
