Obituary of Georges Denis Villeneuve
August 17, 1937 - Wendover, Ontario
February 21, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
Georges Villeneuve of Calgary, AB, sadly passed away at home, on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at the age of 85 years. He was born on August 17, 1937, in Wendover, ON. Son to Bruno Villeneuve and Elisa Villeneuve (nee Gratton).
Georges married his beautiful wife Estelle Marie Rose Villeneuve (nee Saumure) on June 11, 1960. Together for 62 years, until Georges’ passing, their love for each other will always be remembered. As a long time resident of Fort McMurray, Georges worked as a Journeyman Steamfitter for Catalytic, and then Suncor. He was initiated into Local 144 Union on October 3, 1966. On July 2, 1985, he transferred to Local 488 Union. Being part of the union was one accomplishment that he was most proud of. In 2003, Georges and Estelle relocated to Calgary, to be closer to family and help their grandson Éric begin at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).
Georges was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and father-in-law. He was quite fond of them all and sure could tell a good joke. Georges was a problem solver and enjoyed taking on many projects around the house. He enjoyed chatting with friends at gatherings and never turned down a competitive game of crib.
Georges will be immensely missed by both his daughters, Andrée (Steve), and Josée (Dawn); grandchildren, Éric (Amber), Jarrod, and Kelli; great-grandchildren, Patrick, Curtis, and Augustus; siblings, Therese (Gilles), Sister Marie-Paule, Michelle (Fernand), Robert, Gilbert (Suzanne), Jean (Liliane), Donald (Cecile), Daniel (Lucie), Madeleine (Guy), and M. Hubert (Isabel). He will forever be in our hearts.
