Obituary of John JR Robinson

John “JR” Robinson of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the age of 65 years.

John was born in Red Deer and moved to Calgary as a teenager where he met his wife Barb whom he married on May 9th, 1981.  John was blessed with two wonderful sons Joel born in 1988 and Brett in 1992. He was the ultimate father and role model who taught his sons the value of hard work. JR loved spending time with his family. He was a dedicated truck driver and was named the National Driver of the year in 2017. Until his passing, John was employed by Economy Carriers/WestCan Bulk Transport where he had 41 years of service.

He enjoyed family vacations to Disneyland & Las Vegas and spending summers camping and golfing in Kananaskis and Coeur d’Alene Idaho. John was always willing to lend his handyman expertise and tools to help family and friends with their home projects. The only thing he ever asked for in return was for a cold Coca Cola and maybe a cinnamon bun.

John will be deeply missed by his wife Barb, sons Joel (Kendra) and Brett (Emma), and family George & Carol Young, Doug (Chantelle), Liam, Marshall and Cole Young as well as his sisters Dorothy (Jim) Scott and Debbie (Doug) Corraini, Kelly (Trent) Young/Herman and their families. JR is predeceased by parents Claudia and Ron Robinson and by best family friend Donna Norby.
