Obituary of Marc Jacquin
July 29, 1964 – Estevan, Saskatchewan
February 26, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marc Jacquin, aged 58, on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at the Southwood Care Centre in Calgary, AB.
Marc was born in Estevan, SK. He spent his early childhood years in Midale, and after the death of his mother, moved to Gravelbourg with his family. After finishing high school, Marc resided in Regina and then Saskatoon, where he completed a Computer Science degree (with Distinction). Shortly after, Marc moved to Calgary, AB, to pursue his career as a Software Developer.
In 2008, Marc met his soulmate Claire (nee Fullalove), and they were married in Banff, AB, a year later. Marc and Claire enjoyed their walks together in Fish Creek Park, as well as traveling to Europe and warmer climates. They loved exploring different cultures and foods, as well as forest hikes and beachcombing on Vancouver Island.
Marc was always up to date in discovering the latest tech gadgets and bringing them home to try out. Marc enjoyed playing games on the computer and reading the latest fantasy novel. He was an avid cook and loved to prepare different culinary dishes on weekends. Marc took pride in taking care of his home and playing and spending time with his beloved cats. Visiting with friends and family was important to him. He loved socializing with a good barbeque and a cold brew on a hot summer day.
During his career of 25 years, Marc worked in the Oil and Gas Industry and in Property Development. He began working at Brookfield Residential in 2015 where he dedicated his time until ill health prevented him from continuing.
Marc’s resilience, great courage, and hope allowed him to push through his lengthy battle with cancer, even in the darkest of days. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew him.
Marc is survived by his wife Claire, two sisters, Annette Jacquin (John) and Carol Hoehn (Mike); nieces, Jennifer Schultz and Chelsey Robertson (Robert); grandnephews, Jase and Rhett, mother-in-law Linda Fullalove, brothers-in-law, Ben (Susan) and Greg (Gemira), and extended stepfamily including numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Marc was predeceased by his parents Paul and Denise Jacquin (nee Masse) and his nephew Jesse Hoehn.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Blvd S.W. Calgary, AB) on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 11:30 am. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
