From the Collrin family in Saint John, NB, we send our heartfelt condolences to Terry's family.
Dear Charlene and O 'Connor family
Pam and I send our deepest sympathy for your loss. Terry was a great guy and an awesome Uncle. I have nothing but fond memories of my time with Terry and the O 'Connor family. I have been thinking of all the wonderful times "out West " and "back East " .I have been reminiscing about Terry-- what a positive force he was .
I would like to share a few memories.
The first time I saw Uncle Terry , he had hair and pulled into 8 Long court ,Marysville ,New Brunswick in a Ford MUSTANG!!!Timmy and I looked in our driveway and saw the car of every young lads dream--"we have a cool Uncle".Our friends were very jealous.
During very hard times and money was scarce a magical check from Alberta seemed to make things much better on a cold winter day.
A magical day skiing in the beautiful Rocky Mountains only got better upon our return to Calgary . I listened to Terry and Charlene harmonize 50's and 60's tunes . Two lovebirds.
Sitting in the stands at Royals Field watching Team Cuba play Marysville Royals I had front row seats{actually sitting between them) to listen to two baseball experts discuss the nuance of baseball.ESPN would have been fortunate to employ the Maritime tandem of Terry and Tom.
Every young Canadian dreams of attending an NHL game. How about going to the Saddledome and watching the game in a catered private box ---free hot dogs and cold beer !!
A foreign and nebulous concept of the stock market became simplified after a conversation with Uncle Terry . Watch the price of a barrel of oil .
Now I remember who told me to put a dash of salt on buttered bread whilst drinking an ale --try it .
One summer visit back east Terry informed me there was a 10 K run over town ---" lets do it "- he said . No fear and spontaneity and no fear ---good qualities.
There are no dances or sock hops anymore . If you saw Terry and Charlene jive --you would want to bring them back.
Calligraphy and cursive are long lost art, Unfortunately, conversation and story telling are heading in that direction. Terry O 'Connor was a brilliant conversationalist . We need more conversation.
You will be missed.
