May 6, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Earl Pipher, beloved husband of Marilyn Pipher, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the age of 75 years.

Earl was born in Toronto, ON, on January 14, 1948. Earl ended his long battle with Parkinson’s and kept working hard and fighting, keeping his sense of humour right to the end.

He was married to Marilyn Pratt on October 1, 1971, after five years together and being high school sweethearts. Together they went on to have 53 years of marriage.

Earl graduated from the University of Ryerson with a degree in business finance. He then went on to work for Imperial Tobacco from 1974 and retired in September of 2009. He later transferred from Kitchener, ON, to Calgary, AB, in 1989.

Earls’ passion was his family and music. His family and hard work was most important to him, always making sure everyone was happy and okay.

Besides his loving wife Marilyn Pipher, Earl is survived by his son Cory Pipher, daughter-in-law Caterina Pipher, granddaughter Aurora Pipher, and grandson Taylor Pipher; he is also survived by his grandson Clay Flack, his sister Beverly Mcgregor and children Ian, Barbara, Karen, and Jim; his sister-in-law Lorraine Sim, her husband Bruce and their children Dianna and Kyle; Jann and Doug Robertson and their children Megan and Jeff; nieces and nephews Trevor, Jennifer, Shannon, and Josh; ex-wife Sharon, and Thelma Pratt.

Earl was predeceased by his son Scott Pipher, who suddenly passed in 2013; his parents Jean and Herman Pipher; mother-in-law Audrey Pratt, brother-in-law John Mcgregor, brother Douglas Sinclair, brother-in-law Gord Pratt, and brother-in-law Ray Pratt.

Some family members would like to say a few words:

Cory: I couldn’t have asked for a better father. You always were right even though I would never see it or agree. You were someone with strong ethics and values and my hero. Everyone who knew you, saw that you were generous, caring, and were always looking out for people. Everyone will remember you as kind, smart, funny, and always making us laugh.

Cate: I would like to say you have taught me a lot in life and were the best father-in-law a girl could ever ask for. You are going to be greatly missed. We love you. Until we meet again

Aurora and Taylor: I miss you papa. I hope you’re having a wonderful time in heaven. We will always be thinking of you. Rest In Peace.

Marilyn: Earl worked with a great number of people right across Canada and considered all of them friends. He was a great husband and father and grandfather. He was the funniest I ever met and kept us laughing up till the end. In fact, his last request was to “cremate me and put me under the bed, so I can keep an eye on you”.

You will forever be in our hearts and missed every day.
