Obituary of William Robert Golbourn

May 1, 1949 – Montreal, Quebec

March 2, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

 

William “Bill” Golbourn, beloved husband of Winnie Golbourn (nee Everett) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the age of 73 years.

 

Bill was born in Montreal, QC on May 1, 1949. He graduated Chambly County High School, Saint-Lambert, QC, before continuing his education in Calgary, AB. Bill graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Technology. He worked in the banking industry before working with H&R Block for 25 years. Bill and Winnie married in 1970 before moving to Calgary in 1977. Bill enjoyed camping, canoeing, hiking, and photography, as well as his many drives through the mountains with Winnie. He was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

 

Besides his loving wife, Bill is survived by his two daughters, Catherine Diana Golbourn and Sandra Joyce Watson (nee Golbourn), of Calgary, AB; two grandchildren, Kris, and Alex Watson; foster daughter Mary Chan and family; nephew John Basaraba and family; niece Sheryl Ford (nee Basaraba) and family; niece Debbye Desjardins (nee Basaraba) and family; and brother-in-Law Peter Barraclough. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Margaret Bell Golbourn (nee Jardine) and Bernard “Bo” John Golbourn; and sister Joyce Bell Basaraba Barraclough (nee Golbourn).

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Huntington Hills Community Association Centre - Lower Level (520 78 Ave NW, Calgary, AB T2K 0S2) on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here.
