Jack Bateman of High River, AB, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at the age of 64 years.

Jack was born in Calgary, AB, on November 22, 1958. Jack’s first job was working with his Uncle Edwin, driving a truck for McKevitt Vacuum Service. This led to Jack owning and operating his own trucking business, Bateman and Son's Trucking, for a number of years. Jack worked for various gravel crushing companies including Burnco Rock Products, R Jon Construction and Baxter Contracting.

Jack enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters, watching Coronation Street, sipping on a Kokanee at the kitchen table with Betty, and blaring out the tunes. Jack's proudest achievements were his five children, and five grandchildren. Although Jack wanted people to believe he was the tough one, he had a soft and kind heart that we all loved.

Besides his partner in crime, Betty, Jack is survived by his three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ryan and Leslie of Calgary, AB, Patrick and Desi of Houston, TX, and Cody of Calgary, AB; two daughters and one son-in-law, Randi and Kailen, and Jacki, all of Calgary, AB; and five grandchildren, Olivia, Rory, Jaxon, Orin, and Addison. He is also survived by his two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dwayne and Bev of Devon, AB, and Larry and Sherrie of High River, AB; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Susan and Bob of High River, AB, and Donna of Calgary, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, Don and Sheila Bateman, and brother Brian Bateman.

A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.   If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.
