Obituary of Wendy Catherine Meyer

August 24, 1961 – Calgary, Alberta

March 9, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

We regretfully announce the passing of Wendy Meyer on Thursday, March 9, 2023, in Calgary, Alberta in the comfort of her home.  Wendy faced a devastating cancer diagnosis with courage and bravery. And through it all, she never lost her will to smile when she saw you.  Wendy was always surrounded by those who love her.

Wendy was born on August 24, 1961, in Calgary, Alberta.  She lived and worked in the city all her life.

Wendy had many friends who loved her dearly. She was a loyal and loving friend in return. Hours were spent sitting around her kitchen table, laughing, talking about anything and everything and just enjoying the moment.  You simply could not visit Wendy without laughter.  Wendy had a huge heart and a great sense of humor!  One could trust that Wendy would listen, and never place judgment.  She was one of a kind.  Wendy was caring and selfless, and kind, always looking out for her friends and family above everything else.  She loved to read and had a fondness for science fiction, and she loved music, particularly Bob Seger, and Tom Petty.  But her pride and joy were her children.  She was a loving mother, and she always put them first.  Wendy raised her children with a strong work ethic that she herself had.  She passed that trait on to her children, along with her strong will, her resiliency, and the ability to be brave in the darkest of times.

Wendy was a devoted mother to Stephen (Liz), Cody and Cailey and a loving grandmother to Gemoh, Enzo, Cameriah, Abby, Ryan and Landen. She is also survived by niece, Tammy, and Tammy’s son Kaden, who often visited, her nephews Tracy, and Wade (Chelsea) and other extended family.

Wendy was predeceased by her mother Gladys, father Vern, sister Christine and most recently, her brother Wayne.

At Wendy’s request, there will be no service.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

In living memory of Wendy, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB T2A 3V9, Telephone: 403-248-8585.
