Obituary of Mary Sawchuk

March 11, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mary Sawchuk on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the age of 89 years.
Mary is survived by her son, Ronald, granddaughters, Shannen and Summer, and sister Irene. She was predeceased by her husband Orest, sister Victoria, brother John; brother-in-law Angelo, and sister-in-law Sally, and her parents, William and Domnika (nee Iftody) Skoreyko.
Mary was born on the family farm, near the town of Willingdon and attended the Willingdon School. After completing high school, she moved to Edmonton where she worked as a secretary. Sometime later, Mary and son Ron moved to North Battleford, SK, where she met her husband Orest Sawchuk. After their marriage, Orest and Mary were involved in a number of family business ventures in Alberta communities and finally settling in Calgary.
Mary was an excellent mother, grandmother, sister and auntie. She was a very caring person. She had wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed others’ company.
Cremation has taken place; a brief Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB, Telephone: 403-256-9575.) on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
