Obituary of Pauline Cary

May 24, 1938 - Mount Tryon, Prince Edward Island
March 12, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Pauline Cary, of Calgary, AB, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023, surrounded by family and love, at the age of 84 years.

Pauline was born in Mount Tryon, PEI, on May 24, 1938, the second oldest of six. Always a Maritimer at heart, the big city was calling, and she moved to Toronto, ON in 1956 where she met Leonard Cary. They married in 1959 and moved to Calgary, AB in 1967. Together they shared a wonderful life traveling the world and enjoying happy times with their large circle of friends. Pauline spent over 20 years working at the Practicum Office at the University of Calgary, where she created many lifelong friendships. Following the passing of Len, Pauline, and her dear friend Bev Clarke, travelled nearly every year to spend a month or two in Honolulu, Hawaii. A true-island girl, in mid-2000, Pauline returned to Charlottetown, PEI, but after a number of years “back home”, she felt the tug of the big city and returned to Calgary.

Pauline is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Lynette, Richard and Gail; and one grandson, Owen, all of Calgary. Pauline is also survived by her sister, Georgina Mulligan of Charlottetown, PEI; and her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward Reeves (Myrna) of Charlottetown, PEI, and Garth Reeves (Cathy) of London, ON. Pauline was predeceased by Leonard, her beloved husband of forty-one years, her sister Lillian and brother Alan.

At Pauline’s request, a funeral will not be held. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

As Pauline gave to many, in lieu of flowers, donations in Pauline’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.

In living memory of Pauline Cary, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
