Obituary of William Edward Moore

September 26, 1931 -Stratford, Ontario

March 14, 2023 - Cochrane, Alberta

Bill (Pony) Moore, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the age of 91 years, with his wife and daughter by his side.

Bill was born in Stratford, ON, and was a Korean War Veteran, having served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1950 -1965. He was the first male LPN in Alberta, working at St. Michael's Hospital in Lethbridge, AB, and later at Canada Post. He was an avid collector of bald eagle memorabilia. He was a good friend of Bill W. for 60 years, and an integral part of establishing the first naval museum in Esquimalt, BC. Bill had the great honour of being part of the HMCS Ontario Naval Crew that escorted Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh from Sydney, NS, to St. Johns, NL, on November 3-5, 1951.

"I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane," and "you can find sympathy in the dictionary between shit and syphilis," were two of Bill’s favourite quotes. He will be most remembered for Rule 13 and Rule 62, his sarcastic sense of humour, the gift of gab, and his useless information.

Besides his beloved wife Sue Moore, Bill is survived by his son Brian Moore (Kathy Quashnick), daughter Miyoshi "Muffy" Dukic (Misha), and grandson Justice Moore. He is also survived by his sister Donna Steeves (Larry) of Cremona, AB, his sister-in-law Thelma Hoffman, his favourite niece Kathy Overton (Mike), Karen Hodder, and his Mesquite Nevada family. He was predeceased by his son Mitchell Moore, mother Edith Moore, father Lloyd Moore, brothers, John Moore, and Ron Moore; and sisters, Dorothy, Dolores, and Ruth Anne.

A special thank you from the family to Karla Marx, Bitch Sassidy, the Gogo Battles family, the Dickens Pub staff, and his fellow friends of Bill W.
