Obituary of Ronald James Jones
1940 - 2023
Ron Jones of Rocky View County passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the age of 83 years.
He is survived by his sisters Wilma Rad and Carol Smillie; sister-in-law Nancy Jones, as well as nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents James and Ethel Jones; his wife Myrtle Jones, brother Gordon Jones, brothers-in-law Brian Rad and Wayne Smillie.
Ron was a farmer throughout his entire life, enjoying the rewards that this lifestyle offered. He would often be seen at Calgary Stampede events, as well as the Irricana Pioneer Days. Ron was a very social person who loved family get-togethers where relatives and friends would mingle, and he could share a good story as well as tell a joke or two. Ron was also involved with square dancing and the Mason’s Lodge.
He will be sorely missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
