Anna Moline

Obituary of Anna Priscilla Moline

January 20, 1934 – Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan

March 15, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Anna “Anne” Moline (nee Zylka) of Calgary, AB, beloved wife, mother, gramma, and great gramma, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the age of 89 years.

Anne was raised on a farm in Etomami, Saskatchewan. As they grew up, Anne and her siblings moved to different provinces and countries. Anne married Tom Moline, and they were married for 50 years. They had four children, Keith, Lorry, Val, and Dan, and later many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Anne and Tom settled in Calgary. Anne lived by the old saying, “You can take the girl out of the country, but not the country out of the girl.” Anne planted lots of flowers and vegetables in her back yard and along the house. Angie Remembers her 9” plate-sized stargazer lilies. Val reminds us that yellow roses and sweet peas were staples around the house.

Anne was the office manager and secretary to the Ombudsman’s office in Calgary. Periodically, she went to Edmonton for important business.

Anne was also involved in Saint Paul’s Parish, before it closed, and Saint Joseph’s Parish. Every Sunday, there was a gathering at Anne’s with her church friends where tea, coffee, and toast were served. Most of those friends are no longer with us, as Anne was the ‘younger one’ of the group. Widows and those who found themselves alone were invited to join in the camaraderie for the Moline Christmas dinner.

Anne was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Anne is survived by her children, Keith (Angie), Lorry, and Val. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her and Tom’s siblings, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Anne was predeceased by her husband Tom, son Dan, as well as her and Tom’s parents.

Anne’s family would also like to acknowledge the extended Zylka and Moline families, whom we have not heard from.
