It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Michael Stretch on Friday, March 17, 2023. Michael was a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and member of the Calgary community. He lived a fulfilling life that left a positive impact on everyone that he came in contact with.

Born on September 24, 1973, in Calgary, Michael discovered his love for fishing, building, and creating from a young age. He was happiest when he was exploring the great outdoors, casting his line in the water, and working on new projects. Michael was a creative genius with no limits when it came to his ideas and projects. However, it was his contagious personality and sense of humor that endeared him to so many people near and far. His larger-than-life personality made those around him laugh and smile; his legacy of joy and adventure will be deeply missed.

Michael is survived by his loving parents, Wes and Nonnie; his sister Cathy (Tom), his brother Todd (Liz), his niece and nephews Saige, Max, and Will; aunts Audry and Glady, uncle Alan, and many cousins. Michael also leaves behind his faithful furry companion, Rolo. His passing leaves a huge void in the hearts of his family and many friends during this difficult time.

We extend our profound gratitude to everyone who has shown support and love to Michael and his family. Please join us for a heartfelt Celebration of Life in honour of Michael. The event will take place on Friday, May 19, from 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. at The Calgary Crossroads Market - Second Floor (#222, 1235 26 Ave SE, Calgary, AB) with parking and door access at the NW corner. Michael was a beloved member of the community, and he had a special place in his heart for the City Markets in Calgary and Edmonton. He was known by many as "Stretch The Balloon Tycoon," and he brought joy and laughter to thousands of visitors every year. We hope you'll join us in remembering and celebrating his life.
