Obituary of Edna Jane Henderson

Surrounded by those she brought into the world, Edna Henderson of Calgary passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the age of 93 years. 

Mom was born on Boxing Day in 1929 in Lamont, AB and is survived by her three children, Barbara Ogle (Kelly), Bob Henderson (Kate) and Sandy Dellenbach (Jim); her five grandchildren, Christy Kneiss (Rick), Jeff Henderson (Melissa) Robyn Hunter (Jordan), Joey Ogle and Mike Dellenbach; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Lydia, Emma, Brooklyn, Victoria, Parker, Aiden, and Charlee.Mom was predeceased by her grandchildren, Andrew Henderson (1986), Sam Ogle (1988), and Brad Henderson (2013).
 
Mom spent her childhood and formative years in the Gibbons area of north central Alberta. In 1944 she won the governor general’s bronze medal receiving the highest marks in the Sturgeon school division.  She attended high school in Bon Accord where she met her ‘beautiful boy’ Tom Henderson. She and Tom were married in 1951 and spent the next 67 years together, ending with Tom’s death in December 2018. 
 
Tom and Edna enjoyed parts of the winter in Arizona and completing a circum-navigation of North America. The family wants to thank the caregivers, staff, and especially Dr. Sandra Albuquerque at the Southwood Hospice for their unfailing custody and care of mom in her final days.
