Obituary of Ialeen Colwell

September 7, 1930 – March 18, 2023

Ialeen Colwell passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 92 years.

Ialeen was born in Alliance, AB. She was raised by her parents, Rachel and Hume LaMarsh, with her siblings, Anne and Duane, at Murray Valley farm West of Olds, AB. She attended the local one room schoolhouse, Berrydale, travelling by horseback and by sleigh in winter. After completing her middle school years at Hainstock for high school she and her sister lived in Red Deer. Ialeen was active in the United Church throughout her life. She and her husband Bob loved to travel, garden, birdwatch, hike, and spend time with their family and friends. They had many good times at their vacation home in the Columbia Valley. When their children were teenagers Ialeen went back to school and enjoyed a career at SAIT as a Research Librarian. After retiring they spent twenty years working on their family history, including researching, travelling, and meeting relatives.

Ialeen will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Diane, son Doug (Diane), grandson James (Katelynn), great-granddaughter Jamie-Lynn, and cousin Peter LaMarsh.
