Obituary of Ryan Terrence Labelle

LABELLE, Ryan

February 6, 1989 – Calgary, Alberta

March 16, 2023 – Mini Thni, Alberta

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved and cherished grandson, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. Ryan Labelle was called home by our Creator on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the age of 34 years.

Ryan was born February 6, 1989 in Calgary and raised in Mini Thni, Alberta. He attended school in Mini Thni for Kindergarten and grade one, he then attended Belvedere Parkway School in Calgary, for grades two and three, before returning to Mini Thni to try and complete the rest.

At a tender young age Ryan was an avid hockey player who really loved the sport. This brought him to see other parts of the country where he participated in Native Provincials, Treaties, National Aboriginal Hockey Championships for Team Alberta, played for Mini Thni, Canmore, Cochrane and wherever and whenever he could for the love of the game.

Ryan also loved to play guitar, skateboarding, hunting, fishing, horseback riding with all his friends whom he called brother’s and loved fixing cars with his best friend-brother Trendon. When he was younger, he gave a shot at a powwow career in grass dancing, and he worked in various fields of the industry where he was able to learn and obtain multiple certifications that he was very proud of.

Ryan loved and cherished his son Bentley which always put a smile on his face every chance he got to see and spend time with him. Ryan was a brother you could count on and would give you the shirt off his back or the shoes on his feet, all because that’s just who he was and that’s what’s going to be missed about him the most. He loved to joke and jester with everyone he crossed paths with and always walked away with a smile on his face. He was kind and would lend a helping hand when asked, plus, he was thankful for every helping hand that he received, and he always greeted everyone with a smile and treated everyone with respect.

Ryan is survived by his only son Bentley; his best friend-partner Jonah; mother Georgina; grandmothers Barbara Hunter and Tilda (Audley); grandfather Jeff (Evelyn) Hunter; father Jason Hunter; his brothers, Willard Labelle, Brett (Danielle) Benjamin, Trandon Labelle, Ben Hunter, Braden (Collindra), and Brett (Sky) Poucette; his sisters, Brandie Hunter, Katrina A-Hunter, Candace A-Hunter, and Shay (Steve) Hunter; Aunts, Pam, Jaylette, Sandra, Tracy (Juke), Roxanne (Rufus), Ladan (David), Mary Holloway, Cleo Onespot, Bernadette (Clifford), Kathy (Kevin), Lana, Cindy (Rod), Madeline, Muriel, Laura (Louie), Pam (Keon), Ann A-Hunter, Linda Rabbit, Anita Tymen, Wanda Tymen, Lorraine Poucette, Sandra R Poucette, Ulina Poucette, and Linda House; his uncles,  Clemet, Evan (Margaret), Keon, Bowen, Patrick Holloway, Conal, Larry Tymen, Marty (Linda), Bruce (Jennifer) Labelle, Alvin Young, Terry Labelle, Peter (Marcella) Labelle, Rod Powderface, Willie (Harvine), and Rudy Labelle; and many nieces and nephews.
