Obituary of Audrey Ruth Mathewson

March 22, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Audrey Mathewson beloved wife of the late Donald "Don" Mathewson of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the age of 94 years.  Audrey was the last survivor of ten children who were raised in the farming community near Kindersley.  Her work ethic and dedication to her family were her greatest strengths.  Mom was happiest while preparing and hosting special family dinners over the years, as she always enjoyed having her family gathered together. 

Audrey and Don met in Regina while they were both working in the oil and gas industry.  They were married for over 50 years and loved to travel.  They spent their summers at the family cottage at Glenwood Beach on Shuswap Lake, and later in life they enjoyed wintering in Scottsdale AZ.  Audrey spent her last two years enjoying life at the Rocky Ridge Retirement Community where she made many new friends.

Audrey is survived by her four children Kent (Joanne) Mathewson, Kathy (David) Boyd, Carol (David) Stinton, Cam (Nancy) Mathewson.  Audrey was most proud of her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Nicole (Graham), Caleb, Avia Thomas; Jeremy (Sheena), Brooke, Kayden Stinton; Ryan Boyd (Carlee); Kyle (Madeleine) Mathewson; Michael (Christie), Bowen Stinton; Joshua and Aaron Mathewson. 

As per Audrey’s wishes there will be no formal service as her Family will gather for a private celebration of her life. The Family would like to thank the staff at Rocky Ridge and the Foothills Hospital for their compassionate care of our mother. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
