Condolences
Graham, Ashley and Lindsay. So sorry to hear of the passing of Del. Orla and I remember her with fondness all those years ago in the 1970's when we spent time knowing Del. We are thinking of you at this time. Kindest regards. Paul and Orla.
Very many happy memories of family meet ups with Del, Graham, Ashley and Lindsay in Glendalough and Newcastle Co Wicklow. Del had great warmth and was very thoughtful, she was immensely kind and had a generous heart. She was always both interested and interesting. Very special gifts. Our thoughts are so very much with Graham, Ashley and Lindsay at this time. With love Sarah Milligan and family x
Graham, Ashley, and Lindsay, Please know I am thinking of you, and remembering Del with fondness.
We are so very sorry for the loss of your wife and mom.
I (Sharon) met Del in 1970 at the Mohyla Institute Residence while going to University in Saskatoon. We travelled to Europe together in the summer of 1973 and also to Mexico in 1975. I always admired Del’s resourcefulness, map reading skills and sense of adventure.. She was wise beyond her years. I am so glad that l had the privilege of meeting her and travelling together.
Our hearts go out to you! God bless you all.
Sharon and Wally Matweyko (Saskatoon)
I have many happy memories of Aunt Del, she really knew how to live life well and to the fullest.
"Adventurous / world traveler / active lifestyle / walker / hiker / skier / swimmer / conversationalist "
Are the words that quickly come to me when I think of Del.
One of the first memories I have of Del is as a little boy going to Grammas and Grampas for Christmas gathering
and as soon as she walked in the door with her one little suitcase she pulled out a 48 PACK of colored Crayola Crayons
I was so excited, I had the 6/12/24 Pack before but never the 48 PACK! Her comments were " here you go this should keep you
quiet for a long time".....not to sure how long I colored before I went back to terrorizing my cousins :)
In my Teenage years Trivial Pursuit was the rage and I enjoyed playing the game and like listening to all the stories she would tell when the geography cards were drawn. Some members of the family would protest and quit and state that Del cannot draw the Geography cards anymore as its an unfair advantage as she has been everywhere and she would make sure everyone knew...."Oh I have been there" was her favorite line :)
In my college years in Calgary she would always be very interested in hearing about college life and opened her house
up to me whenever it worked out enjoyed a good home cooked meal / beer / coffee and conversations.
We all know she was extremely proud of her daughters accomplishments however she was just as thrilled when one of her nieces or nephew discussed college/university plans and would love talking about the classes the workload and college life. I really think this was her happy place in a perfect world Del a "life long learner" would not actually work but attend college/university lifestyle and take classes forever :)
I can continue with stories, however I must remember to "Proof read and spell check" before I hit send
as I am sure Del will be reading this.
Much Love to Graham, Ashley and Lindsay
I have so many happy memories of visiting Del and the rest of the family in Calgary and Saskatchewan. One year at Christmas, Del gave me the whole Narnia series, not wrapped, but as soon as we arrived. She correctly guessed that I would love it and I was probably on the fourth book by Christmas Eve. That night I opened up my gift from Louise…which was a box set of the Narnia books. She’d been fuming for DAYS since Del had given it to me.
Much love to Graham, Ashley and Lindsay.
I have lovely memories of Del here in Ireland. Whenever she and Graham came back to Glendalough, she loved hiking through the valleys, and it is how I will remember her. I'm glad she is now at peace. My deepest sympathies to Graham, Ashley and LIndsay. With love, Mel.
She is free! A sad time too. Please accept our love. We are so glad you both made it to Australia. Much love Maria and Tim
