Obituary of Edmund Alec Dunkinson

December 4, 1933 - Rockglen, Saskatchewan 

March 24, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

 

Edmund Dunkinson beloved husband of Connie Dunkinson (nee Fletcher) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at the age of 89 years.

 

Edmund was born in Rockglen, Saskatchewan on December 4, 1933, and  moved to New Westminster, British Columbia in 1938 with his family. Edmund started working at ShookMills, New Westminster at the age of 17. He was destined for success in the Lumber Industry as he was hired with Mac Millan Bloedel as a salesman at the age of 18. He spent 17 years working in the Eastern United States before heading back to Canada and worked in Calgary, Alberta and Vancouver, British Columbia until he retired in 1998.

 

 

Edmund married his love of his life Connie (nee Fletcher) on September 13, 1958.

 

 

Edmund had a passion for music. He sang in a Barbershop Quartet in his late teens and dabbled in Community Theatre a few years later. Another of his passion was golf. In retirement he moved to Vernon, British Columbia where he met many new friends in the golfing community. You could find Edmund at the Golf Course 5 days a week.

 

Edmund loved traveling with his family and a few of his most memorable trips were UK, Portugal, Turkey, Hawaii, Fiji and going down south every winter for the warm sunshine and Golf.

 

He will be most remembered for his stories, positivity, and Life lectures. He took interest in everyone he talked to. He was the life of the party. He had many sayings but one of his most memorable was “May the Good Lord Take a Liking to Ya!

 

Besides his loving wife, Edmund is survived by his son Kirby of Seattle, Washington, and son Brent of Gig Harbour, Washington, his daughter Michele (Bill) of Calgary, Alberta; and his grandchildren Jessica (Thomas) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Karli (Matt) of Gig Harbour, Washington, Kyle (Jessica) of Everett, Washington, Blake of Calgary, Alberta and Alec of Calgary, Alberta. Edmund is also survived by four great-grandsons as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

Edmund was predeceased by his parents Alec and Marjorie, as well as his three siblings Pat, Sheila, and Ken.
